Sue (Susan) Mbaya is a human security expert with more than 20 years' experience leading and representing institutions and processes in health, development, humanitarian, peace & security organisations. She has contributed extensively to wellbeing and development in Africa through policy development and implementation. All this though her roles within civil society, parliamentary, academic and private sectors.

Sue is the Founder and Managing Associate of Sue Mbaya and Associates (headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa), providing government relations, public policy advisory and consulting services to governments, intergovernmental, not for profit and private sector entities. Sue has held a range of other institutional roles. She is currently the Director of Crisis Action's African Union Office. She was previously Senior Policy Advisor for the Inter-Parliamentary Union (Geneva). At World Vision International (Nairobi), she was the Africa Director for Advocacy and Justice for Children. At SARPN, the Southern African Regional Poverty Network (Pretoria), she was the Regional Director. She was also Regional Director for Compassion Ministries (Harare). Sue holds a postgraduate degree in genetics. She currently lives in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
