Finance Associate, MCAPS

The Finance associate (FA)supports the USAID Malaria Capacity Strengthening (MCAPS project) being implemented in Mozambique, which is part of the International division of MCD Global Health.

A custodian of MCD’s corporate policies, philosophy and principles, the FM will be responsible for overseeing financial management activities in MCD’s international division including financial analysis and forecasting, budget development, cost allocation, and the development and oversight of compliance and financial management systems, procedures, and internal controls required for global projects by MCD and donors. The Finance associate will provide risk management and fraud prevention and mitigation guidance to project field teams, in coordination with the MCD Director of Finance and will recommend policies and operational decisions needed to leadership. The FA will directly supervise finance staff, working in close coordination with the International Division Director and the Director of Finance of MCD.

The FA associate will also be responsible for formulation and implementation of sound project standard operating procedures, ensuring compliance with donor regulations, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and other regulatory requirements, and internal control protocols. As the FA communicates with a diverse staff in multiple locations and across the world, the FA must be skilled and experienced in effective global communicate and collaborate effectively globally.

The position is based in Silver Spring, Maryland, Augusta, Maine or remote and reports to the Director of Finance with accountability to the Chief of Party, MCAPS.

Qualifications Skills and Experience:

1.Minimum of 2-4 years’ successful financial management experience in positions with increasing responsibility in a nonprofit with experience managing mid-large budgets.

2. Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting. Master’s degree preferred.

3.Experience supporting large bilateral or global projects, with in-depth understanding of USAID and other donors ‘rules and regulations
4.In-depth knowledge of Generally accepted Accounting Principles and excellent understanding of risk management and compliance
5.High energy and commitment to working in a diverse and multi-cultural team environment
6.Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to extract meaning from numbers and present analysis clearly and concisely to people with widely varying degrees of financial knowledge.
6.Proficient with Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of BlackBaud accounting system is a plus.
7.Proven skills in managing staff and ability to build and support effective teams.
8.Highly motivated, organized with the ability to juggle competing priorities.
9.Team player with high level of integrity and professionalism.
10.Excellent communication skills with demonstrated highly effective presentation and training skills
11.Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
