MCD Public Health Hosts Northeast Telehealth Resource Center Regional Conference 2017

Over the past decade, telehealth has become an increasingly utilized method of reaching rural and medically underserved populations. In the United States, more than half of the health systems offer some form of a telehealth services; 80 percent of those that currently do not offer telehealth services plan to in the near future.

MCD Public Health, a proud partner of the Northeast Telehealth Resource Center (NETRC), hosted the 2017 Northeast Telehealth Resource Center Regional Conference in Amherst, Massachusetts. The two-day workshop featured telehealth programs throughout the nine-state Northeast region and shared best practices, innovations, and new opportunities to leverage telehealth. Telehealth Resource Centers, including the NETRC, are supported through the federal Telehealth Resource Center Grant Program, administered by the Office for the Advancement of Telehealth in the Office of Rural Health Policy, Health Resources and Services Administration in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

A leader in the provision of technical assistance for organizations providing telehealth services and education for the telehealth workforce, MCD Public Health, the NETRC and its partners will continue to work to strengthen the capacity of telehealth providers to reach medically underserved populations using innovative and cost-effective methods.
