The Organization

Medical Care Development plans, develops, and operates health systems and programs that help people achieve improved health in Maine and around the world.

MCD was incorporated as a not-for-profit in the State of Maine, USA, in 1966. An international program was created in 1977 and has provided technical assistance in more than 35 countries in Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East. The Community Living Program began in 1989.

During the past 40 years, MCD has worked with U.S. agencies, states, foreign governments, worldwide organizations, and private foundations to improve health and quality of life for people worldwide, often under conditions of limited resources.

MCD's staff and consultants have the ability, education, and experience to design and implement health system improvements in cooperation with area providers and local, state, federal, or worldwide agencies.
