
Through a cooperative agreement by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Maine Colorectal Cancer Control Program (MCRCCP), in partnership with Central Maine Health Corporation, Eastern Maine Health System, MaineGeneral, and MaineHealth provide colorectal cancer screening, diagnostic, and follow-up services to all regions of the state.
Maine is one of 26 states and tribal organizations receiving this funding to provide colorectal cancer screening services for low-income people aged 50 and older who are underinsured or uninsured. In addition to efforts directed at screening this priority population, the MCRCCP has a responsibility to increase awareness and understanding among all Mainers, regardless of age, income and insurance status, regarding the need for, and effectiveness of, screening for colorectal cancer. Other activities include public and provider education; patient navigation and case management; and development of key partnership initiatives to ensure that systems and policies are in place to promote and sustain high-quality colorectal screening, diagnosis and treatment for all Maine residents.
The Maine Colorectal Cancer Control Program is administered by the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Comprehensive Cancer Control Program in cooperation with Medical Care Development, Inc.
