Public Health Professionals  

Medical Care Development is seeking applications from qualified individuals interested in full- and part-time Public Health Program Manager, Project Specialist, and Evaluation/Epidemiology positions for statewide and regional public health programs.  All positions are being recruited in anticipation of contracts and grants to be awarded.  Actual positions and job offers are not guaranteed, as they are dependent upon actual receipt of state and federal grants and contracts.

Program Managers  are responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of a public health intervention program, supervise project staff, oversee contracts, and coordinate with other MCD programs, plus public and private agencies, CDC, and other states.  These positions require knowledge of public health program management principles, theories, and practices; program budgeting, grants administration, and program monitoring practices; chronic disease, substance abuse prevention, and public health program response; appropriate use of media and social marketing in a public health context.  Must also have the ability to plan, direct, and evaluate a public health program, to communicate effectively, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other health professionals.  A Bachelor’s Degree is required, with significant experience in program and systems development; Master’s Degree in public health preferred.  These positions will be based in Portland and Augusta.  Program manager competencies among successful candidates are expected to be consistent with those identified by the Public Health Foundation Council on Linkages as Level II or higher.

Project Specialists are responsible for implementing public health program interventions and coordinating with other program partners and organizations.  These positions require knowledge of public health program principles, theories, and practices; understanding of how to organize and implement appropriate health communications, media, and social marketing initiatives; and superior personal organizational and communication skills.  A Bachelor’s Degree is required, with program and implementation experience a definite plus; Master’s Degree or Certificate in public health preferred.  These positions will be based in Portland and Augusta.  Project Specialist competencies among successful candidates are expected to be consistent with those identified by the Public Health Foundation Council on Linkages as Level I or Level II depending on the project.

Evaluators/Epidemiologists are responsible for designing data collection and analysis systems, analyzing the data and producing reports for various audiences, as well as the participating in the selection or development of tools for collecting and reporting on program implementation data.  Evaluators and Epidemiologists with MCD are not in an academic setting, but rather are focused on applied evaluation and epidemiology in the context of new and ongoing public health initiatives.  These positions are rarely exclusive to one content area and frequently entail working with two or more programs.  Both types of positions require training in epidemiology and statistics as well as public health theory.   A Master’s degree is required with a Doctorate preferred.  Successful candidates will be able to document strong inter-personal and communication skills.

* Medication administration and treatments (5-day CRMA Certification is required).

 - Direct Care Aid (DCA) - 16 hours one week, 24 hours the next week (every other). Second Shift - 2:45pm - 11:15pm. Days worked are flexible and subject to change from week to week.

Medical Care Development, a non-profit agency, serving individuals with developmental and other disabilities, is seeking direct care aides to work with residents on activities of daily living in the Skowhegan and Norway area. We are looking for responsible, caring and positive team players. A high school diploma or equivalent, valid Maine driver's license, a clean driving record, and the ability to work in a challenging environment required.
