Certified Residential Medication Aide ($250)
This 5-day program will prepare participants to
administer medications in a residential care setting. All course materials
comply with State regulations and are required for certification as a Mental
Health Rehabilitation Technician I (MHRT-I). Refresher course is
required within two years.

Certified Residential Medication Aide Refresher ($65)
Individuals who already hold CRMA certification can
renew their certificate through this one-day competency based program. Copy
of current valid certificate must be presented when registering for this class.
Refresher course is required every two years.

MHSS (Mental Health Support Specialist) ($225)
This 5-day program is a requirement for assisted
living Mental Health facility staff and for certification as a Mental Health Rehabilitation
Technician I (MHRT-I). Areas covered are the role of the mental health
support specialist, understanding mental health and mental illness, toward
health and recovery, trauma, Maine's Mental Health System, communication,
confidentiality, sexuality, health and safety, documentation, and being part of
the community. This course will provide an overview of health care
delivery in the assisted living environment.

This 2-day program is a requirement for those
seeking certification as a Mental Health Rehabilitation Technician I (MHRT-I)
and is based on treating people with dignity and respect. Participants
will learn how to manage their own behavior in order to be effective when
dealing with others. Recertification course required annually.
NOTE: Appropriate footwear and clothing are required. (Loose casual
clothing and sneakers or closed toe shoes.)

CPR/First Aid Full Program with Preventing Disease Transmission ($70)
The first part of this program will deal with CPR/First Aid. Participants will learn how to handle minor medical and cardiopulmonary emergencies in this Red Cross Certified course. This program is required for certification as a MHRT-I. CPR recertification is required annually. First aid recertification is required every three years. The second part of this program will deal with Preventing Disease Transmission and provide the participant with the basics of proper infection control techniques. Recertification is required annually.

This course provides a review of the full day
CPR/First Aid program and is open to those individuals who hold a current
certificate. Copy of current valid certificate must be presented when
registering for this class. CPR & PDT recertification is
required annually. First Aid recertification is required every three
years.

DSP (Director Support Professional) ($270) or $25 to $40 per module
This course is a 48-hour program developed by the
State of Maine to be taken by Direct Care Staff working with adults with autism
and developmental disabilities. It is designed to prepare Direct Support
Providers (DSP) to work with some very special people, reinforce the professional aspects of this work, and provide an overview of the
history of mental retardation services and the current systems of care.
This program is seen as a beginning of education not an end. This
program is available upon request with a minimum of ten students.

PSS (Personal Support Specialist) ($270)
This course is a 50-hour Health Care and Human
Services training program sponsored by DHHS and is designed to meet the education
needs of Personal Support Specialists (PSS) and Certified Nurses Aides (CNAs) in
the State of Maine. It is the latest in a series of training programs
designed to teach the skills, knowledge and values needed by staff in the health
care and human service fields. This course will introduce you to many
subjects that apply to a range of work situations. As a direct service
worker, you will assist people in the community who require a wide range of
services, skills, and supports in multiple settings.

The Experience of Hearing Voices ($40)
This is a simulated experience highlighting the
distress of hearing voices. The purpose of the simulation is to enhance
the understanding and appreciation of this experience to those who provide
direct support services to individuals who actively hear voices.
