Institutional Strengthening for the Bauchi State Ministry of Health (1992 - 1994)
MCDI and its partner (sub-contracted), Pioneer Associates, were selected to establish a capacity within the Bauchi State Ministry of Health to manage, plan, coordinate and implement development activities in the health sector.
The principal tasks were to:
- Establish within the Bauchi State Ministry of Ministry of Health a HIS capable of collecting and processing epidemiological data for planning and management purposes;
- Introduce a system of financial management for the Bauchi State MOH based on program budgeting;
- Establish within the Bauchi State Ministry of Health a health planning capacity;
- Undertake an audit of health facilities, and conduct an inventory of their equipment and maintenance needs;
- Introduce a pilot cost recovery scheme in three local government areas (LGA's).
MCDI provided consultants with expertise in health economics, financial management, epidemiology/health statistics, computer systems management, and health planning.
