Child Survival Project (2005 - 2009)
In September 2005, USAID awarded AME-SADA a grant to implement a four-year Child Survival project in Haiti. The long-term objective of this project is to continue to improve the provision of Health Services in the Western Department of Haiti, specifically in seven rural districts of the municipalities of Cabaret and Arcahaie, one section of Port-au-Prince called Sainte Anne, and six zones on the outskirts of Port-au-Prince.
The Western Department has a population of approximately 1,400,000 people located in mountainous and very isolated rural areas as well as several urban and peri-urban zones. Under a subgrant from AME-SADA, MCDI is providing technical assistance in the preparation of the baseline Knowledge, Practice and Coverage (KPC) survey, the Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP), and the Midterm Evaluation, as well as training SADA staff to facilitate the transfer of skills in Child Survival technical interventions and organizational development; AME-SADA trainers, in turn, are training relevant project team members. This mentoring partnership will continue until the completion of the project.
