WASH Health, Water, and Sanitation Project for World Vision (1987)


WASH contracted MCDI to provide technical assistance to the USAID-funded World Vision Relief Organization for the Africa Water Program.


Technical services rendered in Ghana by MCDI included assessments of the following:

  • The engineering of water systems and sanitary facilities in terms of design and construction, quantity and quality of available water, and sustained operation and maintenance
  • Program outputs such as service delivery to targeted communities; facilitating community participation in design, planning, construction and maintenance of systems; and changes in attitudes regarding the utilization of water
  • Health education associated with water projects
  • Strategies for implementing program objectives such as the linkage between World Vision and the government ministries, in addition to community selection, allocation of resources, and selection of technologies
  • Project management, administration, reporting, and information systems
