WASH Project Training for Urban Sanitation and Water Decade Planning Seminar (1987)
MCDI assisted the Government of Djibouti to develop a national policy and strategy for urban sanitation. Specific activities conducted in the country included:
- Assessment of of the status of urban sanitation in Djibouti
- Assistance with the development of a national sanitation policy
- Preparation and realization of a workshop on urban sanitation for government officials to develop and adopt national policy and strategies
MCDI continued assisting the Government of Djibouti by organizing and facilitating Water Decade planning workshops and activities that included:
- Identification of the sector's needs for water supply, sanitation coverage, institutional strengthening, human resource development, community mobilization, commodity inputs, and financial resources
- Identification of available sector resources
- Development of a national water and population policy and short-term action plan
- Determination of need for external technical assistance
