
MCDI was awarded a subcontract to implement a major USAID Child Survival initiative in three prefectures in southern Chad. The main focus of the project was to coordinate and implement a model cost-recovery system that could ensure sustainability of subsequent child-survival interventions. In addition, project consultants provided over fifteen months of short-term technical assistance. The team worked initially with the Moyen Chari prefecture's Planning and Programming Division of the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs.
Another of the project's objectives was to increase access to health care in the project area, while making sure the care remains compatible with a community's specific concerns and needs.
