Preparedness for Disaster Management (1980 - 1984)


In a joint venture with the Office of Preparedness of the Pan American Health Organization, MCDI provided assistance to the following countries: Antigua, Monserrat, Dominica, Grenada, Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, St. Kitt's, and Jamaica in developing appropriate emergency management plans for their national water supply and sanitation authorities. MCDI's assistance included:

  • Assessment of water supply and sanitation status in these countries
  • Assessment of the vulnerability of their utilities to natural and man-made disasters
  • Development of emergency action plans for water and sanitation authorities
  • Preparation and implementation of emergency planning and management workshops in each country
  • Production of reference materials in emergency planning and management
